Some 14 of us from D'Utama Advanced Toastmasters Club were in Penang and we had plenty of fun! We witnessed the International Speech & Table Topics contests and we met up with the International President of Toastmasters International, Chris Ford, DTM as well as many other celebrities of District 51, including those from our very own club.
It was indeed a profound and spiritual reunion of old camaraderie. We also had the pleasure of meeting new representatives of the Chief Minister of Penang during the Opening Ceremony and Beach party. There was sumptuous food too. All in all, the theme of the Convention - "Sharing the GIFTS" - was really appropriate.
DU Advanced had a strong contingent there. We were represented by President Lee Wei Seong, VPE Deborah Hoe, VPM Low Yat Seow, VPPR Foong Weng Tuck, Secretary Bernard Louis, IPP Lim Lay Kun, and our beloved members Dr Arul, Ho Fong Ming, Ivan Ho, Joyce Hue, LeAnn Tang, Dennis Wee, Karen Yen, and last but not least, Joseph Gomez who is the incoming District Governor.
We had a gala time and this will go down well in memory lanes for DU Advanced Toastmasters Club. See you in Kuching 2009!
