Joyce Hue first Speechcraft experience as a Topic Presenter
"I felt that being given the topic 'Table topics', I really had to do research and come up with slides. All along I would just take table topics as a game and say what I please, never giving a thought to it. But I now know that there are techniques to it.
At first I thought it would be just like a small workshop that we conduct in normal meetings, but as this was for a group of professionals, the feelings are different. It was really as if I had the authority to stand up there to deliver my presentation. It was indeed a good opportunity and experience. It gave me a different kind of confidence. The good thing about an arena like this, everyone learns from just about anyone.
Perhaps if there were future opportunities like this, I would certainly love to step in as a presenter and a facilitator. It would be good if we were closer to the participants and could be more involved with them. And as for the other toastmasters, all should have the opprtunity to include themselves as it is really an eye opener."
"When I attend some technical trainings, I would have started playing with my cellphone busy sms-ing after the morning session. But these 2 days, the workshop kept me awake and excited throughout, I forgot about my phone, thanks to your team." Ramzani, participant.
"This is something I know all the while, the basics of communication skills. But the way it is conducted got me into applying them effectively. I am so impressed I will be attending your meeting next month, and also to join up as a member of your club then." Mohd Nazim, participant.
"I can truly see that all of you in Toastmasters really practice what you taught us. I observe that you really are truly what you basically teach, that is very impressive. Like, when you talk about Body Language, you really apply it, and when it is about Vocal Variety, you really use your voice, that is something I want to perfect too." Joyce Lim, participant.
"There were active, passive, active and passive learning experience here. Very well organised and very paticipative, I learned a lot and got to re-apply all that I already know." Stanley Ng, participant.
