DU Advanced Toastmasters Club...a Prestigious Club

Dear members,

Kindly find the following as the sharing from our member, SK Khor on his recent experience in the Area B1 Speech Contest. He has regarded his recent achievement as a result of consctructive feedbacks received.

Here it goes...

Dear fellow TM @ DU Advanced,

A short note to say ‘Thank You’ to all my friends at DU Advanced Toastmasters Club who have provided constructive feedbacks to my previous two speeches (during the Club Contest and on the 11 March 2010 meeting).

The trophy of 1st Runner up at Area level should be belonged to the DU Advanced Toastmasters Club and should be kept at the CLUB. I was just one of the many ‘result’ delivered by the club through a series of warm, friendly and sometimes harsh evaluations !! From club level to Area level contest, I was just looking for some experience and winning never come to my mind at all…

The evaluations / feedback from the following individuals (in no particular order) during the two meetings were the key contributors to the MAGICAL TRANSFORMATION of my speech and helped me to become a BETTER Speaker:

1) Peter Siew - the three times ‘Think about it’
2) Tham Chee Wah – Usage of big scream in speech may back fired certain audience
3) Siew Peng / Victor Ong – better usage of certain words and grammar
4) Emil Anthony – Strong connection in the story between beginning and end of speech. Disconnect when the content swing over to Pornography and cyberbully
5) Peter Siew – Suggestion to twist the speech from Pornography to kids sensitive info on internet managed to resolve Emil’s comment effectively
6) Uncle Foong – commented on my strength in using emotion – that led me to CRY (with real tears !!!) within the first 60 seconds in my speech and which I believe I able to swing some sympathy points from the audiences and judges !!
7) Victor Ong: commented my strength on the flow of speech – that led me to end my speech calling a STRONG ACTION must be done after they leave the contest.
8) Uncle foong, Lay Kun and Victor onsite support - gave me the confidence to do my best ..
9) Others: feedbacks and comments received over the last 2 years

Last but not least, DU Advanced Toastmasters Club is definitely a ‘Prestigious Club’ you should feel proud to call “my club” – Definitely a real interesting and rewarding experience for me, especially being the first speaker out from the 6 contestant ..

1 Malaysia – 1 Club - DU Advanced – Converting CARBON to DIAMON !!

Thank you .

SK Khor
