Speechcraft Program - A Proposal

SPEECHCRAFT PROGRAM

Introduction

Oral communication is part of daily life. You speak to someone. You greet people. You express opinions. You offer information. You ask questions. You may even try to persuade someone to accept your point of view or do something. How well you verbalize your thoughts and ideas determies the impression you make on people and, ultimately, how successful you are in life.

Yet speaking to more than one or two people may make you nervous and uncomfortable. You may be afraid you will say or do something foolish or that you will bore your audience. These are normal concerns and, with some effort, you can overcome. You can learn to organize and present your ideas logically and convincingly and in doing so, develop the self-confidence that will enable you to handle any speaking situation with ease.

Speechcraft is a program designed to help you develop those public speaking skills.

How many participants for each program?

To provide enough time for participants to complete 3 speeches within 2 days. It will be effective when Speechcraft is conducted with a min 20 or max 25 participants only.

Where can it be held?

A conference room is preferred for a comfortable seating of 20-25 participants. During speech presentation (except Case Studies), the participants will form 2 groups. Each group consisting not more than 13 speakers. One group will remain in the conference room and the other group will move to another meeting room. So, we will need 2 rooms where one will be used when speech presentations commence.

How will it be conducted?

Each group to commence their speaking assignments with a few Toastmasters members to guide them. The Toastmasters will also give verbal evaluation right after the speeches. The participants will have hands-on material to record their progress as each participant will be evaluated individually by experienced Toastmasters. With this mentoring system, the participants will learn the communication skills efficiently and effectively.

What is the cost of the program?

All conference expenses will be borne by the corporation, ie conference room, meals, and all out-of-town expenses that may include accommodation and transport. Program materials such as Toastmasters International Speechcraft Program Manuals, Notes, Program Files will be prepared and are covered in the program fees. Our Exco member will liaise with you on the program fees when we meet to discuss further.
